Hustle Fitness is a community, not just the gym where I work out. Whether it is just seeing the same folks on a regular basis or participating in classes, the people are friendly and encouraging while providing added incentive for me to keep pushing forward. Chris provides an effective program, positive coaching, and even stimulating conversation. Each workout is hard, but I know I am making progress. This community is providing me with the tools and motivation to make positive changes in my life. I'm looking at this as a lifetime journey, and the people at Hustle are good companions to have along the way. (and I really like the rope slams)

More importantly, I've committed to a consistent fitness routine and have begun to understand what is important to my health...balanced diet, body fat % (not the # on the scale) and how I feel on a day to day basis. My advice for everyone thinking about possibly Stick with it! It may be out of your comfort zone or not what you're used to doing, but results will come. Also, make friends! Its nice to see the same people every day and have a support system that shares your same interests/goals.

I started working with Chris because my work outs were becoming very routine and I had hit a plateau. After working out 2 x 3 times a week on my own I decided to start sessions with Chris. That was in August.

Because I’d never had a personal trainer I didn’t know what to expect and I was very surprised at how professional and methodical Chris approached my sessions. Right from the start he evaluated my level of fitness and designed a program to strengthen all areas that needed improvement. This made for seamless transitions to more difficult and advanced training that followed.

Since I started training with Chris I have seen huge improvements in overall strength and flexibility. I have also noticed an increase in muscle mass and I’ve lost 4% of my body fat. Overall, I feel much better physically and mentally.

Chris pays close attention to my level of fitness keeping daily notes. Once I reach a certain level he will redesign the work outs to push me to the next goal. He keeps it interesting and I never get bored.

New Year’s Resolutions rarely stick, but I was dedicated to completing mine finishing a full marathon in 2011. I have had 2 knee surgeries, and had never been a runner, but the goal of finishing the December 2011 Honolulu Marathon was going to be a resolution completed. Chris and I were set up because he’s run a marathon, and that first session was the best blind date I’ve ever been on. I didn’t want to work with Chris to lose weight, and I was very clear about it. I was shocked when I dropped 8 pounds in the first 2 weeks. Chris and I talked about my weight loss very methodically, and he helped to point out my bad habits not to shame me for getting to be so heavy in the first place, but to make sure that I knew that this was all about my life. Chris said that my life would be better if I stopped eating the way I had been and started exercising more and it is!

It’s been a very difficult year, but Chris has been supportive and persistent. When I break down physically, he adjusts to my needs and even reassures me that we’re not failing because we’ve changed course. He pushes me through my moments of mental weakness in order to get ready for the race and there have been many! and always gets me back on track.

The goal with the marathon was always just to finish not to be first, not to be 21st, but to finish. After 2 knee surgeries, it was better to be prudent than to be a superstar. I had been pacing at 15 minute miles, so the plan was to finish in 6 and a half hours. In my head, the goal was to finish before noon, just in case anything went wrong.

At 5 am on December 11, we lined up with 20,000 other people in the streets of Honolulu. I was worried about the heat from the minute we touched down in Hawaii, and the 75 degree heat at the start did not sit well. But I was excited, and shot across the line. As we got further and further along the race course, the harder it became to keep going. It felt like someone had taken a baseball bat to my left knee, and the heat was too much. If Chris hadn’t been there, I absolutely would have quit half way through. My body was tired, I was mentally drained but Chris kept me going. We crossed the finish line at 6:59:42, just 18 seconds shy of noon. Chris held my hand in the air, which was awesome because I cannot imagine finishing this enormous journey without him right next to me.

The last personal trainer I had really didn’t do much. All we did was the standard bench press and machines. What I like about Chris is the fact he has a different routine set up for me each time I’m with him. We incorporate TRX, heavy lifting, Free weights, Medicine Ball.

Chris knew exactly what he was doing and I liked how it involved exercises I never used. I love the fact that I actually feel like I get something from every workout. I hadn’t done much heavy lifting as I used to stick to only cardio when going to the gym. I’ve dropped considerable weight. I’ve eaten healthier. I really get a satisfaction after the workout knowing I worked my tail off.

I had just signed up for my first marathon and was very apprehensive about whether I could complete the training required without getting injured in the process. I had never run a marathon or worked with a personal trainer before, but I had met Chris through a free PT session I earned from joining my gym. I followed up with him after and he was confident he could help me achieve my goals, and in working with Chris, I became confident I could as well.

Since training with Chris, I have met my goal time and achieved a personal best in every race I’ve ran, which is two half-marathons and two marathons so far, and I intend to run more. I was already working out most days, but Chris helped me understand the best types of workouts for me (i.e., my moderate pace on the eliptical for an hour was not the most efficient way to exercise). I soon realized how much more effective my sessions with him were than the gym’s group classes too. He’s such a good motivator! He understands that working out can be tough, but always kept encouraging me. Even though my sessions with him were challenging (I was sometimes scared to come in), they were always fun! They inspired me to work harder in my own workouts.

Chris is such a great trainer! He pays such attention to detail and it is obvious how dedicated he is to doing his best for his clients. He always seems to be looking for new information and it shows because sessions are always changing and getting tougher! Chris is similar to the college professor; he notes my progress as I move through the circuits and shares my progress. He is conscientious of my health and injuries and has plenty of exercises in his toolbox should there be an issue with me being able to complete one of them. Chris pushes me to achieve results. I don’t trust anyone until they prove themselves to me. I work with many people that claim to be experts and very few impress me.

Chris has proven himself to me as my results have continued to exceed his expectations and my own. my endurance level has improved. From the time I began working out with Chris until now, I have overcome my fear when benching heavy weights. I have always wanted my trainer to hold or guide the bar for me. However, now I am confident knowing that I am in control until he notices that I am struggling and helps me get in one or two more repetitions. Chris is a motivator and his individualized programs are tailored to meet my goals. The benefits of small group exercises are team work and encouragement. The end result compliments Chris’s ability for us to see exponential gains in strength, agility and flexibility. I started working with Chris in May 2010. I had never worked with a trainer before and was skeptical. I wasn’t sure that I was going to get the service and workouts that I wanted. What drew me to working with Chris is that he was a new trainer. I figured, if anything, he’d be motivated in order to retain clients. The second thing was his incredible weight loss of his own. I knew that if he was able to get himself into shape and lose weight, he could teach me how to become stronger and leaner as well. Two of my biggest challenges were listening to constructive criticism and changing my diet. I had always thought I ate fairly well. I was wrong and it took me a very long time to listen to his advice and actually implement it into my diet. While I still indulge more than I probably should, my diet has changed drastically and I have noticed changes in my energy levels based on what I have eaten on a particular day. As far as the workouts, he’s an excellent motivator. He doesn’t let me give up and he doesn’t let me do anything he knows is too easy, no matter how much I complain. I can appreciate that because I work with him to get results and I won’t get the results I want if my workouts are simple. I’ve gained a noticeable amount of strength and I like how my arms, back and shoulders look, which was one of my requests when he first asked what were my goals. I can do push ups and pull ups, which I wasn’t able to do either when we began working together. Overall, my experience has been a good one and I’ll be a client of Chris’s for a long time.

Chris began training me in April 2010, and under his guidance I completed the Devil’s Challenge Triathlon in September 2010, and the Hot Chocolate 15k in November 2010.

When we first began working together, I could not run a quarter mile. I had never run a mile in my life, and I was in terrible shape. During that first month of training, our workouts were long and somewhat hellish. But soon, I could feel myself getting stronger, my body getting leaner and more flexible, and my endurance increasing. I was in the best shape of my life when we trained together. What’s more, my mentality about working out evolved from one characterized by dread and self-pity, into one of determination and pride. Chris’s workouts were systemized in a way that allowed me to take what I learned and create my own workouts on my own time.

Training with Chris is inspiring with his encouragement and the challenges he puts forward, you want to do your best. For many years I dealt with constant back pain after getting up in the mornings, muscle soreness without doing any extrenuous activities. I would also be out of breath after going up the stairs to my 3rd floor apartment. Walking a couple of blocks would get me exhausted. So I was simply struggling with my every day life. In the past I have work with other personal trainers with no results other than guilt, more fatigue and the dissolution that I was not athletic at all. In early 2009 I chose to find a trainer that was a better fit for me. My goal was to find someone that knew how to communicate with me, understood my personal physical condition and could help me set realistic goals that I could achieve. I wanted someone that could help break the boredom of working out, lets face it, if you are not working out correctly you will not want to continue and you increase your chances of getting hurt.

Chris changed how I perceive the idea of working out. In 2011 I crossed the finish line of the Illinois Marathon and Chicago Marathon, my first two marathons, greatly do to Chris.! We want quick results, but sadly we forget that this is a process and your trainer can only assist you and keep you focus. From his personal philosophy and example I have learned from Chris that a trainer is more than someone that will show you a couple of ways of exercising. A good trainer will understand the mechanics of your body and is able to help you correct the bad habits and posture. A great trainer will inspire you to believe in yourself. It is not just to finishing a marathons but be able to play with your kid, run after the bus, to be able to carry your brief case or back pack without pain. We should all be able to have confidence in our body and know what we can accomplish.

A good trainer will understand the mechanics of your body and is able to help you correct the bad habits and posture. A great trainer will inspire you to believe in yourself. It is not just to finishing a marathons but be able to play with your kid, run after the bus, to be able to carry your brief case or back pack without pain. We should all be able to have confidence in our body and know what we can accomplish.

For many years I dealt with constant back pain after getting up in the mornings, muscle soreness without doing any extrenuous activities. I would also be out of breath after going up the stairs to my 3rd floor apartment. Walking a couple of blocks would get me exhausted. So I was simply struggling with my every day life. Chris began training me in April 2010, and under his guidance I completed the Devil’s Challenge Triathlon in September 2010, and the Hot Chocolate 15k in November 2010.

When we first began working together, I could not run a quarter mile. I had never run a mile in my life, and I was in terrible shape. During that first month of training, our workouts were long and somewhat hellish. But soon, I could feel myself getting stronger, my body getting leaner and more flexible, and my endurance increasing. I was in the best shape of my life when we trained together. What’s more, my mentality about working out evolved from one characterized by dread and self-pity, into one of determination and pride. Chris’s workouts were systemized in a way that allowed me to take what I learned and create my own workouts on my own time.

Training with Chris is inspiring with his encouragement and the challenges he puts forward, you want to do your best. When you can see the physical evidence of your progress, you want to push yourself and see just how much you can do. I started working with Chris because my work outs were becoming very routine and I had hit a plateau. After working out 2 x 3 times a week on my own I decided to start sessions with Chris. That was in August.

Because I’d never had a personal trainer I didn’t know what to expect and I was very surprised at how professional and methodical Chris approached my sessions. Right from the start he evaluated my level of fitness and designed a program to strengthen all areas that needed improvement. This made for seamless transitions to more difficult and advanced training that followed.

Since I started training with Chris I have seen huge improvements in overall strength and flexibility. I have also noticed an increase in muscle mass and I’ve lost 4% of my body fat. Overall, I feel much better physically and mentally.

He understands that working out can be tough, but always kept encouraging me. Even though my sessions with him were challenging (I was sometimes scared to come in), they were always fun! New Year’s Resolutions rarely stick, but I was dedicated to completing mine finishing a full marathon in 2011. I have had 2 knee surgeries, and had never been a runner, but the goal of finishing the December 2011 Honolulu Marathon was going to be a resolution completed. Chris and I were set up because he’s run a marathon, and that first session was the best blind date I’ve ever been on. I didn’t want to work with Chris to lose weight, and I was very clear about it. I was shocked when I dropped 8 pounds in the first 2 weeks. Chris and I talked about my weight loss very methodically, and he helped to point out my bad habits not to shame me for getting to be so heavy in the first place, but to make sure that I knew that this was all about my life. Chris said that my life would be better if I stopped eating the way I had been and started exercising more and it is!

It’s been a very difficult year, but Chris has been supportive and persistent. When I break down physically, he adjusts to my needs and even reassures me that we’re not failing because we’ve changed course. He pushes me through my moments of mental weakness in order to get ready for the race and there have been many! and always gets me back on track.

The goal with the marathon was always just to finish not to be first, not to be 21st, but to finish. After 2 knee surgeries, it was better to be prudent than to be a superstar. I had been pacing at 15 minute miles, so the plan was to finish in 6 and a half hours. In my head, the goal was to finish before noon, just in case anything went wrong.

At 5 am on December 11, we lined up with 20,000 other people in the streets of Honolulu. I was worried about the heat from the minute we touched down in Hawaii, and the 75 degree heat at the start did not sit well. But I was excited, and shot across the line. As we got further and further along the race course, the harder it became to keep going. It felt like someone had taken a baseball bat to my left knee, and the heat was too much. If Chris hadn’t been there, I absolutely would have quit half way through. My body was tired, I was mentally drained but Chris kept me going. We crossed the finish line at 6:59:42, just 18 seconds shy of noon. Chris held my hand in the air, which was awesome because I cannot imagine finishing this enormous journey without him right next to me.

I'm down 20 lbs and down at least 3% in body fat. More importantly, I've committed to a consistent fitness routine and have begun to understand what is important to my health...balanced diet, body fat % (not the # on the scale) and how I feel on a day to day basis. I feel that I am in the best shape and definitely the strongest (both body & mind).
My advice for everyone thinking about possibly Stick with it! It may be out of your comfort zone or not what you're used to doing, but results will come. Also, make friends! Its nice to see the same people every day and have a support system that shares your same interests/goals.

I started working with Chris in May 2010. I had never worked with a trainer before and was skeptical. I wasn’t sure that I was going to get the service and workouts that I wanted. What drew me to working with Chris is that he was a new trainer. I figured, if anything, he’d be motivated in order to retain clients. The second thing was his incredible weight loss of his own. I knew that if he was able to get himself into shape and lose weight, he could teach me how to become stronger and leaner as well. Two of my biggest challenges were listening to constructive criticism and changing my diet. I had always thought I ate fairly well. I was wrong and it took me a very long time to listen to his advice and actually implement it into my diet. While I still indulge more than I probably should, my diet has changed drastically and I have noticed changes in my energy levels based on what I have eaten on a particular day. As far as the workouts, he’s an excellent motivator. He doesn’t let me give up and he doesn’t let me do anything he knows is too easy, no matter how much I complain. I can appreciate that because I work with him to get results and I won’t get the results I want if my workouts are simple. I’ve gained a noticeable amount of strength and I like how my arms, back and shoulders look, which was one of my requests when he first asked what were my goals. I can do push ups and pull ups, which I wasn’t able to do either when we began working together. Overall, my experience has been a good one and I’ll be a client of Chris’s for a long time.

The last personal trainer I had really didn’t do much. All we did was the standard bench press and machines. What I like about Chris is the fact he has a different routine set up for me each time I’m with him. We incorporate TRX, heavy lifting, Free weights, Medicine Ball.

Chris knew exactly what he was doing and I liked how it involved exercises I never used. I love the fact that I actually feel like I get something from every workout. I hadn’t done much heavy lifting as I used to stick to only cardio when going to the gym. I’ve dropped considerable weight. I’ve eaten healthier. I really get a satisfaction after the workout knowing I worked my tail off.
